Resumo

Os attachments ou encaixes ainda têm indicação em reabilitação oral na era dos implantes dentários? Certamente. Esta modalidade de retenção protética pode possibilitar a restauração funcional e estética do sistema mastigatório com grande qualidade, especialmente quando o paciente não puder se submeter à terapia com implantes osseointegráveis. O presente relato de caso tem o objetivo de apresentar uma situação clínica de reabilitação oral maxilar de uma paciente usuária de bifosfonato por via intravenosa. A impossibilidade de se submeter a procedimentos cirúrgicos levou à indicação dos attachments de semiprecisão, prótese fixa dentogengival e prótese parcial removível metaloplástica. Os autores concluem que esta modalidade de retenção protética ainda pode ser uma opção de tratamento viável sob os pontos-de-vista funcional e estético, principalmente quando condições sistêmicas contraindicam a reabilitação com enxertos ósseos e implantes dentários.
